A popcorn sky, decorated in white
Laying on your backside
What thoughts are running through your mind?
Stirring away as atop you climb
Guilt ridden sullen with despair
A hot wind whispering in your ear
May I have this dance?
A hand reaches out to capitalize on a moment lost
Invading your castle there’s nobody guarding it
Morals have abandoned you
Too eager to think things through
Too late to retreat now
Your ship is sinking there are no coast guards around
A popcorn sky whirls as blades turn above
Help oh lord, forgive me of my sins
In these final moments of innocence the night comes too quickly
Closing your eyes you lie back and try to forget it
When the troops implode the walls and storm into your beloved home
You are rendered helpless, no men of armed force
Comforted only by the buzzing of nature
Still singing their songs of glory
Lost in hopeless hate
Drowning in words promised to your elders
Life comes roaring down
Lightning flashing on the shadows on the walls
When those gates collapse
You never envisioned dying to be like this
Sharp pains render your body stiff
When you are awaken to hear
“Lift your head”, you feel ashamed at the state they have found you in
No heroes live here, only me a poor lost soul who
Felt as though they had found security
False homes, false memories, never trusted again
This all happened so fast, and the last thing to see before I sleep
Popcorn skies accompanied in white embrace me.
